Refund Policy
Effective Date: January 1, 2026 · Long Lake Insurance Agency, LLC · Plymouth, MI
1. Overview
This Refund Policy applies to all service fees, administrative fees, and any charges collected directly by Long Lake Insurance Agency, LLC (“Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) in connection with insurance brokerage, consulting, and administrative services. Please read this Policy carefully before engaging our services.
Please note that insurance premiums paid directly to insurance carriers are subject to the refund and cancellation policies of the respective carrier, not this Policy. Long Lake Insurance Agency, LLC does not collect, hold, or control insurance premiums on behalf of carriers.
2. Service Fees and Administrative Fees
2.1 Types of Fees
Long Lake Insurance Agency, LLC may charge the following types of fees in connection with certain services:
- Policy Placement Fees: Fees charged for the placement of certain specialty or non-standard insurance policies where carrier compensation does not cover the cost of service.
- Consulting Fees: Fees charged for detailed insurance consulting engagements, policy audits, or risk management assessments beyond standard agency services.
- Administrative Processing Fees: Fees for document preparation, policy endorsements, certificates of insurance, or other administrative tasks as disclosed at the time of service.
- Reinstatement Fees: Fees associated with reinstating a lapsed or cancelled policy through the carrier.
2.2 Fee Disclosure
All fees charged by Long Lake Insurance Agency, LLC will be disclosed to you in writing prior to the commencement of services. You will have the opportunity to review and agree to any fees before they are charged. We will never charge undisclosed fees.
3. Non-Refundable Fees
The following fees are generally non-refundable once the corresponding service has been initiated or completed:
- Administrative processing fees for completed document preparation or policy changes
- Consulting fees for completed policy reviews, audits, or written reports delivered to the client
- Policy placement fees where the insurance carrier has bound coverage on your behalf
- Fees for certificates of insurance that have already been issued
- Reinstatement fees where the carrier has reinstated the policy
The rationale for non-refundability in these cases is that the service has been fully rendered and the associated labor, carrier coordination, and administrative costs have been incurred by Long Lake Insurance Agency, LLC.
4. Refund Eligibility
4.1 Eligible Refunds
You may be eligible for a full or partial refund of fees charged by Long Lake Insurance Agency, LLC under the following circumstances:
- A fee was charged in error or as a result of a billing mistake on our part
- A duplicate charge was processed for the same service
- A service was paid for but not yet initiated or delivered, and you have requested cancellation before work commenced
- A consulting engagement was cancelled by Long Lake Insurance Agency, LLC prior to delivery of services
4.2 Partial Refunds
Partial refunds may be issued at our discretion in cases where a service was partially completed at the time of cancellation. The refund amount will be calculated based on the proportion of work not yet completed, less any costs already incurred.
5. Insurance Premium Refunds
Insurance premiums are paid directly to and held by the insurance carrier. Any refund of premium resulting from a policy cancellation, mid-term change, or audit adjustment is processed entirely by the insurance carrier according to their own policies and procedures. Long Lake Insurance Agency, LLC has no control over carrier premium refund timelines or amounts.
Generally, if you cancel a policy before its expiration date, the carrier will issue a pro-rated or short-rate refund of unearned premium directly to the named insured or the premium finance company, as applicable. We will assist you in understanding and navigating the carrier's cancellation and refund process.
